6.30.14

Malia asked to join me on my run today, and I said yes! It meant only going about 1.5 miles instead of my usual 3 but it was fun. And she kept up with me the whole time, if not actually pushing me a bit faster than normal. About halfway into the run, she was grinning and kept saying "I can't believe I'm actually doing this!"

6.26.14

After several days of being beaten down by headaches and exhaustion, it felt good to be at almost regular strength today to get caught up on laundry...you know, after a full house clean at a client's place first.

6.23.14

We celebrated the end of swimming lessons with smoothies (which were FREE thanks to cereal box coupons!). This was our first year without the pass/fail concept, and it was nice just watching the girls improve on certain strokes/skills without having to worry about the final outcome.

6.21.14

The first day of summer brought with it sunshine, heat and zero mosquitoes as Malia and her cousin gave it their all on the second day of their soccer tournament. They were the only team to play 3 games between 10 and 2 with how the schedule was set up, and while they were the most exhausted team there with that schedule, they were amazing! They earned the bronze medal AND my little miss scored her first goal of the season during the second game of the day. Words cannot express how proud I am of my two soccer Warriors and the rest of their team as they showed tremendous growth over the short season. They know how to play with heart, hard work and dedication. They also know what it's like to lose and what it's like to win and they handle both with grace.

Side note: I think it's worth mentioning that I won $72 in the 50/50 draw!

6.20.14

My brother-in-law and I watching Malia and my niece in their first game of this weekend's soccer tournament. Malia - the green pinney-clad player at the top right - rocked it on defense (including almost scoring with a wicked kick from center field!) and my niece did score, both of whose efforts helped their team reach a 3-0 victory!

Kickin' it old school. But shhhh...don't tell anyone. I'm sure this is all colors of illegal. Man, I miss the good ol' days!

6.17.14

After 3 years of only getting the most minimal trims, I took a big step backwards today with my process of growing out my hair. Sometimes something that looks better on you is more important than reaching a certain goal.

The view from the Ferris wheel. Usually we go on the big wheel when it gets dark and the view is better, but luckily we went when we did since the rain came shortly after!

6.13.14

It's that time of year again...our local weekend fair. Unfortunately the weather isn't looking great but tomorrow is the main day for us, so hoping for an improved forecast in the morning! Today we just spent an hour there with the girls going on 3 rides and playing 2 games. Oh and then back at 11pm for fireworks of course.

6.12.14

This was my first time getting called back to the doctor's office after my annual physical. Luckily when the receptionist called, she made sure to stress that it was nothing to worry about but I was still curious. Turns out I am low on B12 and iron. That I can deal with.

It's a whole new world having a child playing in sporting events against other teams. Such excitement! Tonight was a great night cheering her and her team on to their first victory of the short season so far! Way to go, team!

This man. He braves the elements everyday for work, whether it freezing cold or scorching hot. After a day like today, no wonder he's tired!
